The Museum of Still-Others is a response to Orhan Pamuk’s open invitation to create small and personal museums by turning our homes and stories into ‘exhibition’ spaces. In his manifesto in the Museum of Innocence he writes: “we need modest museums that honor the neighborhoods and streets and the homes and the shops nearby and turn them into elements of their exhibitions”. In the spirit of his work, we turned Nonneseter klosterkapell into an element of our exhibition and viewed it as one found object amongst many. In there, we told the story of our cultural journey, filled with prejudices, blurring of boundaries, and friendship – as “others”.
